This course will focus on recognizing potential elder abuse cases against both skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. It will also outline the significant litigation advantages elder abuse cases have as opposed to typical medical malpractice cases. It will further discuss theories of liability on how to prove up an elder abuse case in several settings including pressure ulcers, medication errors, falls, staffing shortages, UTIs, and sepsis. This course will further provide an outline on how to use the industry’s many regulations to your advantage and compare the significant pros and cons of cases against skilled nursing facilities versus assisted living facilities. 

Learning Objectives:

• Identify potential elder abuse cases and how to differentiate an elder abuse from a medical malpractice case. 
• List ways to prove up an elder abuse case in several classic elder abuse settings. 
• Differentiate the advantages of litigating cases against a skilled nursing facility as opposed to an assisted living facility.

We do ask that you arrive promptly; otherwise your reserved seat may be given to a walk-in attendee. All registrations are assumed to be remote unless otherwise stated.
