When my sister entered hospice care, I strove to get her affairs in order as soon as possible. I needed to find a local attorney and the Sonoma County Bar Association came through via their Lawyer Referral Service. With a speed that still boggles my mind the following happened: I spoke about my needs to Win Rogers on Saturday. She started the search on Monday. The next day, I had a consultation with the attorney that she identified and hired him. On Friday, Attorney Dale Miller presented himself with a notary – all as requested – and the trust documents which my sister then signed. Thankfully, she was still able to think for herself and sign her name. That was all in the nick of time because she passed a week later.
I am grateful to Win Rogers and this referral service. The expeditious way that this all unfolded was miraculous. The referral service is a model that every bar association should follow!

Q: What Is a Lawyer Referral Service?
A: The Sonoma County Lawyer Referral Service (Certified by the State Bar of California, Certification #0056) is designed to assist people in finding the right lawyer at the right time. More than 60 attorneys who are experienced in 25 major fields of law are available to serve you.
Q: How Does It Work?
A: When you call our office, a counselor experienced with analyzing legal problems will help you determine the nature of your situation. If the services of an attorney are needed, an appointment for a half-hour initial consultation is made. You are under no obligation to retain the attorney to whom you are referred. If referral to a consumer, governmental or public service agency is in your best interests, the counselor will be glad to direct you.
Q: What Does It Cost?
A: Our service collects a $50 non-refundable administration fee for your referral. With your referral, you get an initial consultation with an attorney who handles your type of problem. If you retain the attorney for additional services, then the fees charged will be at the attorney's normal rate.
