Firearms, Concealed Carry Permits and the Law after New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. Et Al. v. Bruen, Superintendent of New York State Police, ET AL.

This Seminar Will contemplate and discuss:
1.    The current state of the law and process of the right to carry a concealed weapon in light of New York Riffle v. New York State Police (2021).   
2.    Changes to California Law, regulation and practice post New York Riffle.   
3.    Effect of the ruling in New York Riffle on estate practice and the transfer of firearms.  
 
NOTE: We encourage in person attendance to better observe demonstration of firearms certification instruction technique.

Scott Gabaldon has been around guns all his life as a young child and due to this exposure to firearms, he has been an avid hunter and sportsman ever since. He began his quest to educate others by teaching his family. It was then he realized that other families could use the same training to have a safe household. In 2012 he became an NRA pistol instructor and has had many firearms training courses since then. He has been through basic firearms training to tactical defense and understands the value of firearms education. He has devoted last few years on teaching others the skills needed to become safe and responsible gun owners. His goal is to teach all that are willing to learn how to become their own 1st line of defense whether it’s defending their home, castle or taking on the huge responsibility of carrying a firearm in public to defend yourself, your family, or others if you choose. Scott is also a hunter safety instructor since 2014 and is certified by the County of Sonoma to teach concealed carry weapons classes as an instructor. Scott is also a USCCA certified CCW instructor and defensive fundamentals instructor. He has also studied under and has been personally taught by the best deadly force instructor in the country Massad Ayoob, he has completed MAG20-120 and has become an expert witness for deadly force shooting used in self-defense. He has taught many students learn basic handgun skills. His love for education is shown in his compassion to teach others whether a veteran or a first-time shooter. He is very patient and understanding some of the fears that a new shooter may have when trying to get comfortable with a firearm. His teachings are never intimidating, or abrasive and he makes sure you are in a safe and controlled environment. He has strong family values being a father and a husband.

Regan’s practice is primarily focused on civil litigation, trust and estate litigation, and real property disputes.

Prior to joining Spaulding McCullough & Tansil, Regan worked for the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office as a certified law clerk during his second and third years of law school. While employed with the District Attorney’s Office, Regan was exposed to the practice of law in a courtroom, arguing dozens of motions and conducting evidentiary hearings representing The People of the State of California.

Regan was born and raised in Sonoma County and is a graduate of Montgomery High School where he ran track and cross country for the Vikings. He received his undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies at Sonoma State University and later attended Empire College School of Law where he earned an MLS and J.D. – both magna cum laude. While at Empire College, Regan participated in a variety of clinics, including Small Claims, Elder Law, and Veteran’s Services with Legal Aid of Sonoma County. He also earned Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence as the top student in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Evidence.

Regan is a member of the California State Bar and the Sonoma County Bar Association’s Litigation Section. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served nearly six years as an active- duty enlisted Airfield manager in Virginia, Tokyo and Kirkuk Air Base in Northern Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Regan enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Mr. Rubenstein has practiced criminal law for thirty years, with over fifty trials to jury verdict. 
Walter received his law degree from Empire Law school and received his Ph.D. in philosophy from New York University. 
Walter Rubenstein published an article in Nature and System on “A Neuro - Electromagnetic Model of Observational Consciousness," taught Bioethics, and formed a bioethics committee for the state of California.
Mr. Rubenstein is the former Chair of the criminal law section for the Sonoma County Bar Association (SCBA) and serves on the SCBA education committee. Walter is a current member of the SCBA Judicial Evaluation Committee.
