Civil Subpoenas

This program will cover: 

  1. Notice to Consumer or Employee and Objection – needed or not?
  2. Who to address third-party Subpoenas to. 
  3. Timing the service of a Notice to Consumer, and Subpoena. 
  4. Service of third-party subpoenas. 
  5. Motion to Compel deadlines for Subpoenas.

 

For the comfort of our guests, a limited number of in-person seats are available. If you wish to attend in-person, we suggest notifying our office at your earliest convenience to reserve your seat. Walk-ins will be admitted as space allows. In-person registrations expire at the start of the presentation. We do ask that you arrive promptly; otherwise your reserved seat may be given to a walk-in attendee. In-person reservations are non-refundable unless cancelled prior to 3 pm one business day prior to the presentation. All registrations are assumed to be remote unless otherwise stated. To reserve your seat for the in-person option, please contact Ann Horn at Ann@SonomaCountyBar.org or (707) 542-1190 ext. 100 to transfer your remote registration to in-person.

Katherine “Kate” Muller graduated University of San Diego, as an American Bar Association certified paralegal in 2008. 

Since then, Kate has supported Civil Litigation firms, Bankruptcy firms, and in-house Corporate Counsel.  Kate has been supporting the civil litigation team at Abbey, Weitzenberg, Warren & Emery since 2021.

John “Jack” Sanford has been a personal injury attorney with Abbey, Weitzenberg, Warren & Emery since 2014. He has solely represented people injured by the fault of others throughout his legal career. Jack has experience handling cases involving injuries caused by negligence, dangerous conditions on a property, defective products, medical malpractice, sexual abuse, elder abuse, excessive use of force, and automobile accidents and has also represented employees in wrongful termination, discrimination, and unpaid overtime cases. Jack has been the lead attorney on numerous cases from the initial filing of the lawsuit through settlement, mediation, and a jury trial. He has litigated cases in both federal and state courts.

Jack currently serves on the Board of Directors for Legal Aid of Sonoma County, Sonoma County Bar Association, and Social Advocates for Youth (SAY). In 2023, he was a winner of the North Bay Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 honor. He's a participant in Class 39 of Leadership Santa Rosa, the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce’s premier leadership development program. Jack volunteers annually to teach local high school students about the law and has presented legal education seminars to attorneys for the Sonoma County Bar Association.

Jack attended college at the University of Colorado and law school at the University of San Francisco.
