For the comfort of our guests, a limited number of in-person seats are available. If you wish to attend in-person, we suggest notifying our office at your earliest convenience to reserve your seat. Walk-ins will be admitted as space allows. In-person registrations expire at the start of the presentation. We do ask that you arrive promptly; otherwise your reserved seat may be given to a walk-in attendee. In-person reservations are non-refundable unless cancelled prior to 3 pm one business day prior to the presentation.

Hon. James Bertoli

Hon. James G. Bertoli
Supervising Family Law Judge
Sonoma County Superior Court

The Honorable James G. Bertoli is currently assigned as the supervising judge of the Family Law Division of the Sonoma County Superior Court and has been a member of the Sonoma County bench for over 20 years. In addition to general family law cases and LPS conservatorships, Judge Bertoli has sat as the judge handling both civil and criminal domestic violence cases for over 15 years. In addition to his duties on the bench, Judge Bertoli serves on the Sonoma County Superior Court Executive Committee, the governing and policy-making body for the court. 

A fourth-generation native of Sonoma County, Judge Bertoli was educated at Santa Rosa Junior College and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1982 from the University of California at Davis. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco in 1985 and began practicing family law and public sector labor law with the Santa Rosa, California law firm of Wotring & Byrne. He then became the managing partner of the law firm of Byrne & Bertoli in 1989 and then formed a solo practice in 1991 which he maintained until his election to the bench in November, 2000.

Julianne Major has exclusively practiced all aspects of family law for over two (2) decades and has been on the short list of attorneys qualified to be appointed as minor’s counsel since 2004. Julianne’s experience also encompasses working as a Child Custody Recommending Counselor for Sonoma County Superior Court mediating disputes between parties and interviewing children. Her position, as a CCRC, coupled with her legal experience have offered her a unique vantage point into preparing children for Family Court Services and Court, if necessary, Julianne has served on various boards and committees; including serving as Secretary/Treasurer for Women in Law, Members of Family Law Rules Committee and served two (2) elected four-year terms as a School Board Trustee.
