It's Time to Renew Your Membership

Dear Member...It’s that time of year again – time to renew your membership in SCBA. And what better way to do so than to renew your membership on SCBA's brand new website!

This website has been a labor of love for staff and the Board for several years. Yes, years! After many bumps in the road, we're very happy to show off our new and improved site and encourage everyone to take advantage of the convenience of renewing online!

What, you might ask, has SCBA done for me lately?!? Well, my friend, read on for a snippet of benefits SCBA membership offers.

MCLE Seminars and Events: SCBA offers educational and social opportunities in a wide array of topics of legal and professional interest. On average, SCBA hosts about 5 seminars and events per month. Our social calendar has taken a bit of a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, plans for social opportunities in 2022 (remote or otherwise as the pandemic allows) are in the works. SCBA has been utilizing Zoom quite successfully since March for all of our continuing education and plan to continue to do so. Plans are also in the works to open up live-streaming of in-person seminars once we're once again allowed to meet in person. You need look no further than your membership in SCBA to meet your MCLE requirements and networking needs -- attending in whatever way you're most comfortable with -- in 2021.

Section Membership: Did you hear? We added another section in July 2020. In case you missed our announcement, we're happy to welcome the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Section and encourage everyone to join! We now have 14 sections serving several major legal practice areas and affinity groups in Sonoma County. Section activities are invaluable to network with others like yourself with your unique needs and keep up to date in your practice area. Work done within the sections help shape the administration of justice, bench-bar relations, and social awareness within Sonoma County. Don’t forget to renew or sign up for your respective Sections!

Discounts are available for members to attend all educational programs and on SeminarWeb, our on-demand video platform. The administration fee is also waived for all SCBA members joining SCBA's Lawyer Referral Service.

SCBA Lawyer Referral Service Is continually taking calls and referring the public to attorneys for consult and possible representation. Members are encouraged to join LRS! Let us send potential clients your way!

Even More: SCBA members have the opportunity to join one of our twenty-five active committees, including the Judicial Evaluation Committee, various Rules and Best Practices Committees, and Education and Special Events Committees.

With your membership, you will have a listing in the online Membership Directory on the SCBA website. Your listing on SCBA's site can also include a personal message of your creation and links to your email or website.

Members receive our quarterly publication: The Bar Journal directly to their email inbox. This publication includes regular features such as our President's Message, the Movers & Shakers column and articles that offer low-cost self-study credit.

And Beyond: Beyond these many tangible benefits, you will also continue to enjoy the intangible benefits of supporting SCBA. SCBA has worked hard since 1921 to improve the practice of law and bench-bar relations in Sonoma County, and to foster collegiality among members. Your membership supports these goals, which benefits all in the legal profession and broader community.
